How to Apply

Applying for a scholarship or medical assistance is easy and can be completed in 3 steps. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns during the process. Once you have read through the steps below fill out and submit the appropriate application.

Step 1

Review and understand our funding requirements

Scholarships and medical assistance are only available for dogs adopted in Whatcom County, WA, but can be used at a training center or veterinary clinic anywhere. Scholarships can only be used at centers that train exclusively with positive reward based techniques. Funds are available to those that could not otherwise afford obedience training or medical care. This includes households making less than $25,000/year, students or people undergoing a unique hardship.

Step 2

Gather relevant documents

In order to process funds we will need proof that an adoption took place from a Whatcom County shelter or that an adoption is in process. We will also need proof of your financial situation, status as a student or other details of your particular hardship. For medical assistance we require a written reference from the veterinarian providing treatment. Additionally, if the medical care is outside normal treatment, we may require a written estimate from the veterinarian.

Step 3

Apply

The application is quick and easy to fill out. If you meet the qualifications for a scholarship or medical assistance we will require the documents listed above. Upon final approval we will arrange an interview to discuss the scholarship or medical assistance amount and to assist you with any questions regarding qualified training centers or veterinary care providers.
